How it's calculated
- The final value fee is charged on the total amount of the sale β item price, shipping, handling and sales tax included.
- Most categories are billed at 13.6% on the portion up to $7,500 and 2.35% on any portion above it.
- A fixed $0.30 per-order fee applies to each order (orders under $10 are charged less in some categories).
- International sales add 1.65% when the buyer's registered address is outside the US.
- Net profit = total sale β eBay fees β cost of goods β your actual shipping cost.

Are these rates exact for my category?+
Treat them as a close estimate. eBay publishes category-specific rates that differ for items such as trading cards, musical instruments, heavy equipment and NFTs. Verify your own category on eBay's fee page before pricing against a thin margin.
Does the final value fee apply to sales tax?+
Yes. eBay calculates the fee on the total amount of the sale, which includes any sales tax collected β a detail that catches out sellers reconciling their payouts.
Does an eBay Store subscription lower fees?+
A store subscription mainly changes your zero-insertion-fee listing allowance and some category rates rather than the headline final value percentage. Model the subscription cost separately against your monthly volume.
What about promoted listings?+
Promoted Listings ad rates are charged on top of the final value fee and are not included here. Add your ad rate percentage to the effective rate shown above.
