Marketplace Listing Checker
A listing gets suppressed and Seller Central tells you almost nothing. Most of the time the cause is dull and mechanical: a title one character over the limit, an exclamation mark Amazon treats as a banned character, backend keywords that measure 250 characters but 340 bytes because someone typed them in Chinese, a promotional phrase like "free shipping" that every marketplace forbids in the title. This tool checks those things before you publish. It is not an AI writer and it does not score your copy β it takes each marketplace's own published rules and runs them one by one, telling you which rule, what it found, and where the rule is documented so you can read it yourself. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

How it works
- Pick a marketplace and paste your listing. Only the fields that marketplace actually uses are shown.
- Errors are hard violations of a published rule. Warnings are things that cost you visibility but will not get the listing pulled.
- Amazon backend search terms are measured in bytes, not characters β a Chinese character is 3 bytes, so 84 of them already blow the 250-byte limit. The counter above the box shows bytes for that field.
- Rules marked "verify" are widely cited but we could not confirm them against a current official page. Treat them as advice, not law.
- Every finding links to the marketplace's own help page. If a rule looks wrong to you, check the source and tell us.
Frequently asked questions
Why was my listing suppressed when the title is under the limit?+
Length is only one of the rules. The frequent culprits are banned characters (Amazon disallows ! $ ? _ { } ^ in titles), promotional wording such as "best seller" or "free shipping", and emoji. Run the check with everything pasted in β the title alone rarely tells the whole story.
Bytes or characters for Amazon search terms?+
Bytes, and the difference matters. The limit is 250 bytes of UTF-8. Plain English text is one byte per character so the two look identical, but accented Latin characters are two bytes and Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters are three. Anything over the limit is silently truncated β the tail of your keyword list simply is not indexed.
Does repeating keywords in the backend help?+
No. Amazon indexes a word once. Words already in your title, bullets or brand field do not need to appear in search terms, and repeating them only burns bytes you could have spent on a synonym or a long-tail phrase you are not yet ranking for.
Is this an AI tool?+
No, and deliberately so. It is a set of deterministic rules with sources attached. An AI rewriter guesses; a rule check tells you "the title is 214 characters and the limit is 200". You can verify every finding against the linked page.
Do you store my listing?+
No. The rules run entirely in your browser β nothing is sent to a server, and there is no account to create.
How current are the rules?+
Each marketplace file carries the date its rules were last reconciled with the source pages, shown at the top of the results. Marketplaces change limits without announcement, so if you spot a discrepancy the linked source page wins over us.
