How it's calculated
- Referral fee = referral rate Γ (item price + shipping charged). The default here is 8%, the rate TikTok Shop US moved to in mid-2024 β but confirm your rate in Seller Center, it has changed several times.
- Affiliate commission = the commission percentage you set on the product Γ item price, paid only on creator-attributed sales.
- Payment processing is bundled into the referral fee for most US sellers, so no separate line is added.
- Net profit = item price + shipping charged β referral fee β affiliate commission β cost of goods β your shipping cost.
- Break-even price is the lowest item price at which net profit is zero, holding your rates and costs fixed.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the referral rate editable?+
Because TikTok Shop has changed it repeatedly β 2% at launch, 6% in April 2024, 8% from July 2024 β and runs category and new-seller promotions. Enter whatever your Seller Center shows rather than trusting any calculator's default.
Do I always pay affiliate commission?+
Only when the sale is attributed to a creator through the affiliate program. Organic sales from your own shop pay just the referral fee. Leave the affiliate field empty to model organic sales.
Are there fees for shipping with TikTok?+
If you use TikTok's shipping labels the label cost is charged separately from these fees; if you ship yourself, enter your own cost. Neither is a percentage fee.
Is this valid outside the US?+
No. UK and Southeast Asian TikTok Shop markets have their own rate schedules and payment fee structures.
